We chose to stay in The Old Quarter of Hanoi which has a great atmosphere and is noisy and “Full On”. The evenings really have a lot of atmosphere and are vibrant and alive.
We found the food selection to be VERY limited, mainly low class hawker stands selling rather dubious foods. We ended up with a dose of the S***** after buying four cold hand made Vietnamese spring rolls from a woman who had them in a basket. She probably made them that morning and they sat in the 35c heat all day. Our fault we should have known better !!!!!
All in all we enjoyed our stay in the Old Quarter but it was let down badly by the food choices something that was totally different in the next towns of Hue and Hoi An. please check the posts
