Every year around March the Gemmological Association of Australia Tasmania Division (GAA) does a trip to Branxholm in the North Eastern portion of Tasmania where a weekend is spent fossicking for gemstones, mainly sapphires along with eating, drinking and having fun. (Not necessarily in that order).
A highlight of one years trip was a visit to the old Moorina power station that was operating until not so long ago. Click on the picture of the power station for the history. Better still go and visit.
